I wrote this to spread some Chacenzo positivity
- and also to reassure those who are currently doubtful they will ever happen. Iâm confident they will and my
is on #VincenzoEp18; depending on whether the preview for 17 is showing episode 18 outtakes; (if not, then itâs 17)

Basically what I think the show is doing is, it is retelling and subverting a number of biblical stories - in relation to Vincenzo and Cha Young it is retelling the story of Isaac and Rebecca (and also Adam and Eve and Abraham and Sarah) - Iâll only focus on the first;
Thereâs a lot of symbolism that link CY and V to R and I. Iâll quickly mention 3 examples;
When R and I first meet it is said she offers drinks to all of his servants and
; in V, the writer subverts this by having V throw a wine party; it is said she lifted her eyes to him in the original. In V, itâs V who lifts his eyes to CY and offers her a drink, also
=

The show makes a lot of references to art and the iconic scene where V and CY stare at each other (and fall in love, fight me on this
) is inspired by an art piece called The Meeting of Isaac and Rebecca. Note the colours, the maypoles and the biblical figures in the background

Similarly, the underpass cinematography in episode 10 is inspired by an art piece called âIsaac and Rebecca spied upon by Abimelechâ. In the original story, Abimelech is a King who abducts Rebecca and wants her for himself; the arch also returns in episode 15;
In the original story, a servant asks R if she wants to marry Isaac to which she responds âI willâ while being watched by other servants. The fake proposal scene in episode 14 is inspired by this. Note how V kneels on the wrong knee and is bent over like a servant;
Also the scene in the art directorâs office in episode 14 is an art reference to a painting called The Jewish Bride (featuring R and I) by Rembrandt van Rijn;
The showâs been making other symbolic references to R and Iâs relationship they are said to have truly
each other and always had their arms around each other). The original story mentions 3 miracles: a lantern, dough and a blue sky with clouds above Isaacâs motherâs tent;

The showâs been consistently showing us lanterns. They show up in many #Chacenzo scenes. Thereâs one in the office, one in his apartment (he picks it up in ep9 after he comes back from dropping CY off at the hotel) and one on many of the tables they share throughout the series;
The talk about dough in the show is a very clever reference to the story of the deception of Isaac by Rebecca. Itâs too long to explain here, but I think they will subvert this story into MH being tricked into killing someone she believes to be Vincenzo;
It is said all these miracles disappeared with Iâs motherâs death and reappeared when Rebecca came into Isaacâs life. When Cha-Young enters the hospital in episode 16, you see 3 lanterns behind her;
Ok, so why am I setting this all out? Because I think it serves as solid evidence that the writer has been telling a consistent love story based on an interpretation of an existing one (and also because I think it deserves celebrating how clever this showâs writing is);
3rdly, for those anxious about Chacenzoâs ending, it helps predict how it will end (I think yesterdayâs press release only relates to small details, not the overall plot). In truth, I think that press release was a PR stunt. The writing is 2 tightly woven together to make changes
In the original story, when Isaacâs mother dies, the story goes: âIsaac brought her into the tent of his mother Sarah, and he married Rebekah. So she became his wife, and he loved her; and Isaac was comforted after his motherâs deathâ;
So then the question is - how will the writer subvert this verse in the next 2 episodes? This is actually the interesting part of this thread
The original verse has been criticised a lot because it shows a selfishness on Isaacâs part and also itâs pretty Freudian

The writer reinterprets every single verse, so Iâd expect V to be the one to comfort CY in episode 17 which I think is in line with the character building and would give us satisfying parallels to scenes we got in episode 4. Obviously, it'd also be a 2-way street of comfort;
I donât think CY/V will happen in episode 17 but I wonder if weâll get a love confession from CY. Iâm basing this on the narrative structure I have come to suspect the show is following, eg ep 17 will subvert 2 earlier episodes and reverse 2 others. Still working on this theory;
This means the last scenes of episode 17 mix parallels to scenes which earlier episodes started with, potentially this one: but make it a love confession this time (maybe the guy with the head wound in the trailer is V?)
Weâll see :) I think Chacenzo will definitely happen in #VincenzoEp18, purely because I think theyâre ready and also because the preview showed a wedding cake and the tenants. In ancient times, the Jewish marriage ritual included guests having a party while the bride and groom
consummated their marriage in a designated room. Itâs not what V and CY will literally be doing ofc - but I think the show will throw in that symbolism because itâs been consistent in including all sorts of religious symbolism. This hotel room from the preview could be this room.
