i know im a week late, but on the 15th, the Hillsborough disaster would have happened 32 years ago, in which 96 football fans died due to the negligence of those in power and the terrible safety feature - and to believe that the victims would be blamed for the event. RIP.
we’ve made great strides in safety and health regulations, however the police and people in charge have not been held accountable to the fullest and it was unacceptable that this incident (which has the highest death toll in english sporting history) happened in the first place.
this incident may be football-related, but it can link to so many issues we face today - police are not being held accountable and victims are usually blamed for things they cannot control. the media still lies to us and we do nothing about it.
i’ve stumbled upon this, and after reading through the several details, it’d feel wrong not to say anything. lets repay the victims, who were simply passionate football fans, by cutting down on corruption and have authorities accountable. thats what they would have wanted.
this isnt just about UEFA, and FIFA, but our public services and governments, who don’t do their jobs right and then use their influence to get away with all these incidents, blaming victims, getting called out but making some other shitty excuse. thats it for this thread.
