Just like the 2019 session, I have filed a bill to start addressing the massive failure of TX policy regarding wind power. We have small reserves of reliable, dispatchable thermal power in ERCOT and it’s HIGHLY LIKELY problems will arise this summer, just like I predicted in ‘19.
The one silver lining of COVID is that the shutdown saved our grid from massive problems. With 1,000 new Texans per day and a thriving economy, we should fully expect this summer to be a tremendous strain on our infrastructure.
The fact that no thermal generators have invested in our grid in 4-5 years should be extremely concerning to policy makers.

But is it?

We haven’t addressed it yet, and time is running out. The wind lobby is winning while Texans lose.
