I haven't expanded upon this yet since I'm going through a lot of changes and need to focus on my life/practice, but one trend I've talked about with twitter dharma is this explosion of dharma, or I think we may witness a literal spiritual renaissance https://twitter.com/HanjoYoutaku/status/1384937393900376065
Mindfulness is a killer app of techniques, so to speak, but in the name of secular rationalist-materialism a lot got left out, didn't make the cut. A lot of what is going to happen in response to that monoculture is a massive expansion and recalling of everything that got cut out
Sometimes I think of myself as a classicist, what are the classics that got left out from modern spiritual practices? Why is it that meditators who pray to some statue they randomly found end up breaking through some local maxima they weren't even aware of?
So the game is to find your staples or signature moves, not attach to them, use them for as long as you are called to them, drop them when they are stale and know the tools available. Keeping things fresh and playful, a suite of practices that fit like a glove.
Sometimes I talk about, "what if buddhism was actually cool?" I am usually referring to the notion of this really narrow band of formal spiritual practices that doesn't really even resonate with a lot of people, who are unaware that there is a lot more.
Harkening back to twitter dharma, I think one of the things that will happen is finding what that 'whole lot more' is.
May you find the set of spiritual practices that makes your heart and soul sing.
