Heard from *three* different people now that their own family doctors either cast doubt on the vaccines OR outright said not to get them. This is suuuuuper anecdotal (aka “artisanal data”) but JFC, that ain’t good. That won’t help vaccine hesitancy.
I recognize of course some family doctors and MDs aren’t perfect — we had one a while back who we really liked in so many ways, but he was also “throw antibiotics at literally every problem, I mean sure it’s the flu, but you never know, just in case.”
The problem is, that then damages our actual faith in expertise, at least emotionally. Intellectually we should be able to separate one “expert” from a whole body of experts and expertise — but people aren’t always taught the difference or how to navigate that.
Seeing some of the responses to this thread are, oof. Also, though I see some of this is due to the J&J pause, this probably isn’t great either. Talk to friends and family who won’t get the shot. Try to help them see the value in it, and the safety. https://www.washingtonpost.com/health/2021/04/21/vaccinations-downturn-jj-pause-soft-demand/?outputType=amp">https://www.washingtonpost.com/health/20...
