Why Spider-Man: No Way Home being a multiverse movie isn't such a bad thing (a thread):
1. Marvel Studios has creative control and they've managed to balance large ensembles in movies such as Infinity War and Endgame. This has less characters than those and reliable insiders are saying this movie is tighter than people think it will be.
2. Tobey and Andrew's inclusions don't necessarily mean Tom is being overshadowed. If done right, which I suspect it will, their appearances can serve to boost Tom's arc, and they can still fit in the story seamlessly.
3. Going with the multiverse is an ambitious idea and it's better than a movie that doesn't take as many risks in my personal opinion. I'm definitely not against a grounded manhunt story, but this is undeniably wackier and feels more like a comic-book.
4. It can still work with the identity crisis storyline. Peter has to deal with multiple villains knowing who he is and attacking him and his loved ones, increasing stakes and consequences. What better time to fight the sinister six when Peter has a massive target on his back?
5. The multiverse storyline could bring a central theme to the movie that could make an appearance from Uncle Ben that doesn't feel out of place. People forget that the whole multiverse angle can definitely be used to boost Peter's arc.
6. The director has been working closely with Sam Raimi to make sure the transition between NWH and MoM is seamless, and surely we'd expect San Raimi to help make his own villain motivations make sense here. We don't even know what they're doing with the Raimi villains yet.
In conclusion: I know a lot of you expected a manhunt story, but it's basically confirmed that we're getting the multiverse. I think instead of complaining about something we're not getting, we should think about the potential of the storyline they're going with.
It still fits in with Far From Home's mid credit scene and its implications, and it has great potential. So give it a chance, and it might really make you leave the theater satisfied, and excited for more. Also we're getting Daredevil again! How cool is that?
