My 69 year old mother has been using computers for about 30 years now. She asks for my help on something now about once a month. She took the time to learn. Everyone can learn, it is not hard to master the basics.
In fact, you really have to try hard in this day and age to not know how to do basic things like send an email with an attachment, or write up a word doc or crop a photo. Intuitive user interfaces developed over 40 years have made these things dead simple.
I used to do computer tutoring for a living, I would always tell my students to remember - the computer is nothing arcane, it's a fancy calculator here to do your bidding. Anyone can learn, and once you get over the initial hump it's easy and even fun. Get confident. Try things.
So if one almost has to be deliberately obtuse when it comes to the basics of today's technology. Ford is lazy. That is all.
