you know I see a lot of online artists kidding about how much they hate drawing and i know it& #39;s a joke but also,, if u say it that much you& #39;re either conditioning yourself or there is actually a part of you that does hate drawing and maybe that& #39;s smth you should look into
I have seen this coming from a lot of artists who want to go the professional route and i& #39;m not trying to police any1 and y& #39;all are free to do whatever you want I just feel like,, if you truly hate drawing so much then maybe a job in drawing is not for you?
I say this because tbh, most artists dont get paid a great salary, dont get great benefits, the industry& #39;s hard to get into in some ways, it& #39;s horribly taxing work in many ways, I think the greatest perk of working as an artist really comes down to enjoying the work you do
in this case it& #39;s drawing, so if you don& #39;t enjoy drawing, there& #39;s very little in it for you (and I& #39;m applying this to positions where u need drawing because that& #39;s where i& #39;ve seen this kind of comments being made and because that& #39;s what my work entails mostly)
also I think there is a difference between "loving drawing" and "loving drawing x" and I think it& #39;s important for artists to realize which one is true to themselves to know what direction to steer their career into
not that if you love drawing a specific subject you can& #39;t get/do work unrelated to that, but because you either have to prepare yourself mentally for when u inevitably have to draw stuff you dont particularly like or because then you should really ham in on that subject
getting hired for just one thing seems like a shot of luck to me but hey, you might hit jackpot? but if that& #39;s ur aim then maybe you should make that decision and really train yourself in that subject
contrary to that, if you just "love drawing" you get a slightly easier time working, sure there& #39;d be subjects that are more difficult to interpret but you might not be as miserable haha
idk where this thread was going, it& #39;s just stuff i& #39;ve been thinking about since i started working (gladly I have discovered that I do, in fact, love drawing in general, so i& #39;ve had some of the happiest times in my life lately haha)
