VAR thread (taking inspiration from cricket)
A decade ago ICC introduced 2-3 technologies to improve umpiring decisions,i have a bad memory to recall the names of technologies, but they were kept optional for every country in ICC organization!India opted not use it,after finding it to be very inconsistent in early stages
This reminds me of VAR,unlike ICC, @UEFA have dropped VAR on everyone's face, there are lot of issues with it &i believe @UEFA can solve it,if they reduce their stubbornness! It is hard to give options to every club to use it or not match by match, but the decisions can be improved
We have seen referees being showed single angles lot of times, also VAR makes wrong decisions even when angles are clearly shown!UEFA should look to appoint neutral referees to take any bias out, plus they can add two of them,so the mistakes can be ironed out if one makes it
The decision time has been cutdown, but the accuracy is still average, therefore having two referees can help to have a right judgement!Wenger's new offside rule should be a priority,it should be tested in a trial run& should be put into use
I have seen enough wrong decisions by referees to know that VAR is needed, but surely it needs improvements,it is suitable to create a voting system among Prem clubs, before any technology can be used;if voting happened today, majority of clubs wouldn't like to use VAR
As layman,i wrote what i felt right, what can be done!I feel VAR can be saviour, but it has also ruined the beautiful game,it can be improved as it was built to improve referees competitiveness & judgement, neither has happened, plus has confused everyone with new handball rules
