The victim’s family were put under added strain by MP @jessphillips trying to get some transphobic mileage out of this tragedy because she’d been mislead by transphobes who wanted to believe that this crime had been committed by a trans woman.
They didn’t provide Jess Phillips with any evidence that the murderer was trans, there wasn’t any evidence because she isn’t but some folks are so keen to demonise trans people, that they don’t need evidence, gossip is enough for them.
MP @jessphillips did delete her tweet but she has never apologised for putting an already marginalised community under suspicion, at a time when violent hate crimes against them are at an all time high.
Sometimes trans people, like the rest of the community, need assisted accomadation. Trying to remove safe assisted accomadation from the most marginalalised, while they’re at their most vulnerable, is low.

It’s time @jessphillips apologised for her part in this.
Rest in peace, Phoenix, I’m sorry you didn’t get the level of care you needed to keep you safe and that your tragic and untimely death continues to be used as a political football by those who’d see other vulnerable women go without the support they need.
Another couple of things, MP Jess Phillips, as well as representing a whole constituency, has 430k+ twitter followers and this...
