We've gotta start asking policing institutions how they thought that 13-19 weeks is an adequate length to train and certify new officers. This is below standard for every other job. Doctors 6-12 years. Lawyers 3-5. Engineers 3-5. Lab technicians 2. See the pattern? 1/

We need our standards to be raised. The personality test required to pre-screen individuals for police work needs scrutinizing. How are these people able to slip in? They only have to endure 13-19 weeks of training. You could feasibly fake empathy for that long. God damn. 3/
Where is the simulation training to handle high pressure situations? We have the VR technology to simulate these scenarios. If you have a bad first reaction to a stressor its not a bad thing. We now know where the training needs to focus. Instead we get 13-19 weeks. 4/
