A sensory box tour, complete with some tips on where to get stuff if any of it looks good! I& #39;ll say where I& #39;ve got stuff from but some of it is quite old so I can& #39;t guarantee that they& #39;ll still be available
Absolute essential - tangles! I prefer the non-textured ones but qpp likes the textured, and when they inevitably break I make little rings from the pieces cos they& #39;re stimmy to put on your thumbs/fingers. B&M have them for £2.99 atm, otherwise I usually buy from The Works for £4
I& #39;m v big on soft things, so I love a Tsum Tsum (or Ty equivalent). They& #39;re pocket sized and soft, great to rub on your face/mouth/hands, or to squish in your pocket when you wanna be discreet. These have carried me through so much, and the base of them has beans in which I love
to tap! I& #39;ve always got my Tsum Tsums from Clinton& #39;s (the card shop) and I think The Works do the Ty versions, which tend to be a bit softer
More soft things - a bunny keyring from a shop on holiday which is SO SOFT, a snood from ShoeZone, a llama from Flying Tiger and some unworn bedsocks. I think all of these were seasonal items so tricky to trace but just soft fabrics in general are super stimmy for me
Also, this elf from Waitrose one Christmas - EXCELLENT. It& #39;s a baby toy but it rattles and because the limbs are so long and floppy, it& #39;s excellent to shake around. Also beans in the bum! Beanbags are probably something I should invest in cos I love the sensory experience of them
Onto balls. I have a spiky ball - I think described as a massage ball? - from Flying Tiger, which is great. You can buy dryer balls like this too, which are stimmy and also practical! And the Cadburys ball is made of a fairly resistant foam. I used to have a few light up balls,
ones with water and glitter in from Next and The Works, and a big one with just air and lights in from M&M World, but the pressure/water went funny. Excuse the dirt on the boob - the texture attracts dust/fluff but it& #39;s satisfying to squeeze (and was a gift after breast surgery)
Marbles are satisfying to twirl, and make a nice noise, and are usually cold too!
I also have a stone egg (Flying Tiger) that& #39;s v heavy and cold, which I love. I would absolutely recommend refrigerating it and then holding it
Some cleaning supplies are surprisingly stimmy - this is a telescopic duster from The Works and I love spinning it against my palm so the dusty bits move back and forth over it
I was gifted this silicone sponge when I went to uni and I will never ever clean with it (it was from Lakeland but it pretty expensive, and you can get generic products similar online)
Doing this thread has made me notice my timer has gone funny at the top which I& #39;m really sad about! But again these things are everywhere online, I just got mine at the Dungeons when we went once
This gel/goo timer is BEAUTIFUL, especially when you sit it on top of your phone torch and the stuff inside catches the light. 10/10 would recommend. Got it a few years back from Flying Tiger but I& #39;m sure similar stuff exists online
Lighting up things - the fan was from an airport and is great for obvious reasons (put your finger on the middle when it spins, and the blades are foam so you won& #39;t accidentally hurt yourself), and the other thing was from Flying Tiger. Brilliant for projecting stuff on walls.
Rubik& #39;s cubes can be quite stimmy if you can do them, or don& #39;t mind them being scrambled. I got a cheap speed cube off Amazon (middle) which moves super fluidly, and the gear cube on the right moves in a really loud and satisfying way
Very poor video but you get the point. This was also from The Works
Other assorted things - the coily hair bobbles, fidget cube, one of those pin imprint toys (this one from Flying Tiger) and chewelry. I dont tend to use the chewelry much anymore because it& #39;s quite big and makes my jaw ache, and I bite through it after a while and have to trim it
I also have all the noise protection in the world (the big bag of earplugs I& #39;m stuck with because turns out they don& #39;t work for me, my current earplugs of choice are these https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B07ZCSH5J2/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_glt_fabc_Z8KA2CQC1AWT3BVNKHDR)">https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B07ZCS... and a piece of my comfort blanket that broke off that I can& #39;t possibly bin
Parafilm is probably a super rare choice but it& #39;s excellent - it& #39;s a thermoplastic used to seal things in laboratories, but we had to chew it at uni to produce saliva from an experiment and it& #39;s just like very tough, flavourless gum. PERFECT chewing texture. Don& #39;t swallow,
obviously, but look it up on Amazon if that sounds good to you.
Also honourable mention to the stuff my partner loves - a wooden block toy I get at WHSmith (but you can probably get anywhere that does cheap kids toys) and the two products linked in the next tweet
Also, not a stim toy but I recommend getting beef jerky if you bite your finger/toe skin off.
For in person stim toy shopping I& #39;d recommend The Works, Flying Tiger, WHSmith and B&M, but honestly most of these things are generic and pretty much everything can be found online.
I hope this is helpful and if anyone has stim toy recommendations that seem like they& #39;d fit me, lemme know! Also if people want links to any of the things, I can try and find them.
