my thoughts on the yungblud and ksi situation as a trans person — a thread

if you didn't know, yungblud did another performance with ksi yesterday and they're releasing a song together. ksi has purposefully misgendered a trans person and said the t slur multiple times, even in his apology which made the entire tweet counterproductive.

my biggest problem isn't that someone collaborated with a transphobe, it is what it is and even though it hurts, i would just stop supporting them.

the issue is yungblud's hypocrisy and savior complex. for someone who's made an entire song about the trans community you'd think

he cared enough to listen to his trans fans who are hurt by the situation, but dom turned it into this "we can change transphobes! let's just love each other!" thing

he is a cis man and has no place to tell trans people to give ksi a chance and to start liking him.

he basically accepted ksi's apology on trans people's behalf which is not okay. obviously not all trans people have the same opinion on this but i have seen a lot of trans fans who felt hurt by this whole situation.

everyone makes mistakes and everyone will fuck up sometimes, but this has been going on for months. people have tried to tell him to address it multiple times but dom posted a pic of his ass in response to the (valid) criticism he was receiving on twitter.

he's not a victim in this situation and i hate that he's like "everyone on twitter hates me and they try to cancel me for nothing well fuck you!" and his fans praise him for it. do you not see how wrong that is when people just want him to address something?

i'm not telling anyone to stop listening to his music or to stop supporting him, maybe he will address it eventually, but right now it's infuriating to see everyone sweep it under the rug and to see cis people defending him. that's all!

i didn't plan on continuing to add to this thread but i feel like it's necessary.

just so you know, dom's new song and its lyrics are not okay. it comes off lowkey transphobic and it's like he sees trans boys as girls and vice versa. he's once again profiting off trans people.

it also gives off "all the kids are trans these days" vibes.

once again i want you guys to listen to us when we say this. we're tired of his fans speaking over trans people.
