Israeli settler home theft is a "continuation of the Zionist project," said a settler spokesperson in #SheikhJarrah, Jerusalem.

"Is it at the Arab's expense? Yes.

But our gov't institutions were also built at the expense of Arabs who lived here.

So was the state itself." (1/6)
The expulsion of Palestinians in #SheikhJarrah is a feature of Zionism, not a bug. Settlers — and of course their Palestinian victims — are clear on this.

Backed by the Israeli gov’t, they plan to steal homes til "East Jerusalem is like West Jerusalem: Jewish capital of Israel."
These clips of the settler are from the 2009 film “My Neighborhood.”

But they could’ve been filmed yesterday.

This May, settlers will once again forcibly remove Palestinian families in #SheikhJarrah. Their efforts to do so have been sustained, unrelenting, over decades now.
We must do everything we can to #SaveSheikhJarrah and stop the impending expulsions there.

In the US, we can raise awareness on social media and demand the US government pressure Israel to end its illegal home theft and demolition in East Jerusalem: http://bit.ly/StopJerusalemExpulsions
And, if we recognize that settler home theft in #SheikhJarrah is "a continuation of the Zionist project," and that settlers' "job" will be "finished" only when they have taken over every neighborhood in Jerusalem, we cannot view the May expulsions as exceptions or rarities.
To prevent future waves of expulsions, we must oppose (in the settler's words) the "government institutions" and "the state itself" that are "built at the Arabs' expense" — that is, the Zionist system that maintains Jewish supremacy and control over Palestinian lives and land.
