Analysing Brighton's Man oriented press vs Chelsea yesterday.
The Structure-
Chelsea were building up in a 343/3421 shape,
+ Brighton went man to man against most of the players except,
+Chelsea's CCB was left free,he was only pressed at times when he could influence the game
+ When of the Brighton CMs would push out to press Zouma(CCB),
Brighton's spare man Bissouma(CDM) would push out to mark one of the Chelsea double pivot.

Below,I have discussed some of the scenarios that happened during the game

Scenario 1👇
Trossard presses the CCB while having the RCB in his cover shadow, forces opponent wide, instant press out wide forces Chelsea to play into the space created by the Brighton CMs moving up,but Brighton are able to regain possession through a counter press.

Scenario 2👇
Mac Allister pushes forward to press Zouma who plays it back to the keeper(Look how Bissouma has now picked up one of the pivots due to one the Brighton CMs now joining the first line of pressure). Mac Allister also has Zouma in his shadow while pressing Kepa, all other options
centrally to Kepa are marked too,due to this he is forced wide. Trossard presses Rudiger wide and due to Trossard's body shape he cannot cut inside, thus the only option available to him is going long and Brighton are able to regain possession(Check 2nd pic above).

Scenario 3👇
This one was a fairly simple move with all options of Zouma close to him being marked and Zouma himself also cannot carry the ball forward as he wil be immediately counter pressed. Due to this,he is forced long which plays into Brighton's hand due to their aerial ability of
their CBs and they are able to regain possession.

Scenario 4
As soon as Zouma receives he is pressed by Mac Allister joining the first line of pressure while Bissouma marks Jorginho. Chelsea again forced wide where the instant press allows them to win a throw in.

Scenario 5👇
This time the spare man is used in a different way, Pulisic drops deep to collect but Bissouma presses, now here Pulisic's marker(White) didn't follow him because of the numerical superiority that Brighton had due to the spare man, this allowed White to stay behind and control the
space atb. When the ball's played back to Zouma, Bissouma pushes up to press him and now White marks Pulisic, Zouma is able to find Ziyech btl but Brighton regain possession due to their aggressive press.(Shown in pic 2 above)

Scenario 6👇
When you play a man marking system, aggressiveness from your center backs is very improve. Now,at times this aggressiveness could lead to the center backs over committing and losing their duel with their marker and this is where tactical fouling comes into play. This was seen in
this scenario when White lost his duel with Pulisic,he fouled him. The foul was in a place not too dangerous so he wasn't carded while he also succeeded in breaking down Chelsea's attacking momentum. This is tactical fouling.

Scenario 7👇
Zouma's deep positioning allows him time on the ball,Gross is late in his movement of marking Zouma. Due to this Zouma finds Ziyech ibtl but the aggressive pressing of Webster(LCB) and having men around the ball allows Brighton to regain possession and immediately start a counter
Scenario 8

All the passing options closed to the keeper are marked, keeper can only play wide to the left side due to the other side being blocked. When Rudiger receives he is instantly pressed and with the pass to the double pivot being marked and the backpass to the keeper
blocked,Rudiger is forced long and Brighton regain possession again.

Scenario 9
Zouma receives deep but the instant pressure forces him to play to Kepa who is counter pressed and forced long, which is again a trap by Brighton to regain possession due to the aerial dominance of
their CBs. Bissouma's role was important in this too,the reason is in the pic above.

There were more scenarios like this that had occurred in the game but it was not possible for me to cover all of them, but I hope you all got a nice overview of Brighton's man oriented press
vs Chelsea. Potter's plan surely worked well but the draw was a fair result imo when we take into account the amount of chances missed by both teams.
