"Why are people so vocal about the Super League but not about (much more important issue)?" The answer is that it's a lot easier to get people angry about seemingly sudden and dramatic changes than it is about an ongoing situation, even if it's getting worse.
The Super League announcement came out of the blue and was a catalyst for a lot of existing issues about the state of club football. It had a very clear thing for people to be opposed to and a very clear set of villains who no one wanted to defend.
Plus, to be against the Super League took minimal effort - an angry tweet or status update for most people - but gave people the feeling they were part of something bigger and all they had to do was a quick "this is bad" or "I don't like this."
If you think people aren't upset enough about (insert ongoing bad thing here) then you need to give them a focus, something simple they can do and feel like they've contributed in response to a specific issue or event.
Consider the difference between "are you concerned about the power wealthy clubs and their owners have over the development of international football?" and "do you want to stop the Super League?"
If you want people to take action, then you need to find a question that gets the response of "yes, and what can I do?" not "yes, but what can I do?"
