Let's talk about that anxious feeling that can come with being on twitter:
What should I ignore? What should I respond to when it comes to trending topics? What if I say the wrong thing or something I don't know enough about? Here are the inner rules I use to judge these for myself
The 1st rule I have is that if it pertains to race, equality and rights, always speak up.
I also worry I'll say the wrong thing but it's more important to me that people know what I believe to be right, what my morals are and that it's clear who should feel safe around me.
The 2nd rule is that it's ok to be corrected because it's both ok to know that you messed up and that mess up does not make you a bad person, it makes you a person who made a mistake. I would rather be corrected than not know.
3rd rule is when in doubt, or if the topic is not in my realm of knowledge listen to people who the topic does effect, uplift their voices and stand behind them first.
It's smart to listen first.
Final rule (not really tho) is that it's ok to feel like you don't know what to say. If you feel pressure it's ok to admit that remember speaking up isnt about you, it's about those you're speaking up to be an ally with.
Do some research and ask "hey I found this, is this right?"
