For the past few months I’ve been working with a team of translators on the Heart Mountain Translation Project courtesy of the @HeartMountainWY 🌸
Our task was to translate the first two volumes of the ハート山文芸誌, a literary journal entirely written, compiled and edited by and for Japanese American who were incarcerated at this lesser known internment camp in rural northwestern Wyoming from 1942-1945.
Today I’ll be doing a reading of some of the poems I translated and having a discussion with @monstersihavebeen about what it was like to translate this heartbreaking but really valuable material left behind by these JA ancestors
