The lack of understanding of how the 50+1 model came about and what it has created is genuinely astonishing.

The 50+1 rule came about when fan ownership FAILED in Germany and clubs were in the shit financially.

It was created to BRING PRIVATE MONEY INTO CLUBS. https://twitter.com/MetroMayorSteve/status/1384823910462627840
It's also created a completely uneven playing field.

In the 23 yrs since it was brought in Bayern have won 16 titles. Including 8 in a row. Only 4 others have won. Only one other has won more than one.

In the 23 before? Bayern won 9. 9 teams won. None won more than 3 in a row.
There's no mechanism to bring 50+1 to England because there's no way to force owners to sell.

Fan ownership at the highest level doesn't work. Didn't in Germany. Doesn't in Spain. Leads to financial ruin. Look at Real, Barca, Schalke etc.
And if they ever could work out a way to do it, United and Liverpool would dominate the league and nobody else would get a sniff.

If it's about creating an even playing field, 50+1 is about as bad an option as possible.
There's lots to be taken from the German game. Ticket prices being the biggest thing.

But 50+1? Nope.
Let's take Liverpool since #FSGOUT has been trending.

Valued at 3-4billion. Let's say FSG want 2billion to sell half 50+1% of the club.

How many Liverpool fans need to come together to raise that money? What's the limit anyone can buy? 1 share so everyone has an equal say?
So how much is that share? 5k maybe? That would require 400,000 Liverpool fans to each buy one.

That would then require 400,000 Liverpool fans to vote on how to run the club. On each decision.

400,000!

And that's if you can find 400,000 people with 5k to spare!
Make the shares cheaper and the number of people involved goes up.

At 500 quid, it's FOUR MILLION PEOPLE.
The 50+1 rule is great many regards. But it has created a massively uneven playing field and it was only possible because German clubs were fan owned to begin with. It was also done for the exact opposite reason that people want PL clubs to do it.
