It will never escape me how smart John Henry is and how good he is at knowing what to say - yet the SL was so utterly fucking dumb from top to bottom, saying almost nothing at all and feeling like Perez was winging it when asked questions about it. https://twitter.com/LFC/status/1384763846557147142
You can be cynical about this, but it's a very good apology. It takes sole responsibility for everything, it makes no attempt to diminish what happened and offers no 'but' to try and excuse himself.
We at @Podcast_WFH recorded a podcast yesterday and the two other guys who are far more connected and knowledgeable of the inner workings of the game than myself announced as we were each making our closing comments that clubs were pulling out and the whole thing became redundant
So I will repeat something I said in there as now it will never be broadcast. My theory from the start of this whole thing was that the SL wasn't due to be launched yet. Something forced their hand. Maybe UEFA's announcement would legally bind them to something which would put
those who had signed an agreement for the SL in breach of contract. I have no idea 'what' forced their hand - but everything that happened suggests that was the case.

In that group you have some self-made billionaires, people who have overseen plenty of product launches, people
who know the exact importance of good PR and will work with PR companies on the daily. People who understand the importance of branding. How social media work. How for any new product to survive it's launch you need people to buy into your idea.
But we saw none of that. We had a shit brand. I'm pretty sure 'The Super League' was a working title. We had an incomplete website that looks like one of their grandkids threw it together in a half-hour. We had no plan. No details. The details that were dug up by journalists were
actually good ideas - but I'm guessing they were things they hadn't finalised yet and couldn't run with them as part of their launch. They had 12 teams instead of the 15 founders they wanted. Not all of those 12 were fully 'in' yet. They hadn't communicated it within their own
clubs. They hadn't prepared at all for the questions that would be asked. They had no plan for the 'other' 5 teams. And had nothing set up with any other companies in terms of sponsors, broadcasting, or anything else really.

Not to mention launching at this point in the season
which fucks over the clubs still in Europe. And they seemingly weren't prepared at all for the backlash and how UEFA/FIFA etc would react.

I just cannot accept that this group sat down, hashed all this out and agreed 'okay this is how we launch this'.
