I've worked with Tai Lopez and REV as a talent recruiter.

After a few months and around $50k in revenue from my own company, one lesson stands out:

Every business owner needs to know how to network!

Here are 13 networking lessons guaranteed to make you money:

//THREAD//
1) Get used to giving more than you take

Do they need a copywriter? Connect them with great copywriters you know

Are they struggling with a problem you're experienced in? Get them on a call and help them for free.

Earn leverage as a giver and soon everyone will know your name.
2) Use your calendar religiously

Write down

-Birthdays
-Anniversaries
-Reminders
-Follow ups
-Upcoming important events

All things equal, they'll probably like you more if you sent them wine on their birthday.
3) Bring value first

It's incredible how bad people network these days.

Asking for "just 10 minutes of your time" and displaying low value.

Don't.

Instead, offer them something that you know they want (a connection, a service...)

Don't ask for the time, earn it.
4) Give Twice, Ask Once.

Now that they know you, go above and beyond.

Overdeliver on your promises.

Blow them away with cold, hard results.

When they're delighted, get ready.

Ask for what you want, and they'll give it to you.
5) Generosity is key

Helping people is a positive sum game: it doesn't cost you anything.

The more blessings you give, the more blessings you'll receive.

(Great book for this is The Go Giver)

6) Research your market

Did you know that chiropractors have trouble upselling people into regular adjustments?

Me neither.

But you'll never know if you don't research.

And I guarantee you,

That in every market,

There’s someone that desperately needs your service.
7) Connect carefully

Never connect two people for the sake of it.

If they're a bad fit, it's your head.

Vet if people are good fits

-Culture
-Skillset
-Personality
-Beliefs
-Pay
-Budget

A bad connection will make you enemies.

A good connection will make you millions,
8) Be honest

Be honest if you can help or not.

If you genuinely can't help someone, just be upfront about it.

BUT

You can always give them advice or ask a friend of yours if he can help.

Even if you can't help, bring them value.

They'll respect you for that
9) Be clear on what you offer

You don't want to be the "marketing" guy.

That's too vague.

Be the copywriting guy that only works with real estate companies.

My motto is "my talent is finding your talent" and I work with ecommerce brands.

Specific offer > Broad offer.
10) Follow up with your work

Too many people just do their work and then never follow up again.

Good, more opportunity for you:

For everyone you help, follow up and see how they're doing.

Makes them feel like a person and not like a number on a screen.
11) Middlemen make a lot of money

For every deal that you facilitate, take a cut.

That way you make money, both parties get what they need and everyone makes money.

True win-win-win scenario.
12) Ask for referrals

Once they're happy with you, ask for a referral

"Do you know someone who might benefit from [your service]?"

Give them an incentive: If they get you a deal, you give them a cut.

Again, look for scenarios where everybody wins.

(See a pattern here?)
13) Connect more

For every person you connect, there are dozens of conversations where your name shows up.

Keep connecting people, keep showing them your value and soon you'll have a KILLER reputation.

Can't stress this enough: the money is in the connections.
