seeing as he is presumably a very high achieving kid, grades couldn't have been an issue. maybe the reason why he got kicked out was the way he wanted to present himself and how his family hated it so much
oh and the reason he made the metaphor 'an alien exiled from their home planet' for being kicked out can be because he has a special interest in the topic of space
