I can’t help but have the sinking feeling that there is no way to abolish the police other than through violence, a sort of “until every drop of blood drawn with the lash, shall be paid by another drawn by the sword” kind of deal

I desperately hope I am wrong about this. But in my adult life there has been basically no indication that we have political institutions that are capable of standing up to the police *as an institution* basically no matter what police do.

So I think police are about to get more violent, not less. It’s been ugly and I am afraid of how much uglier it’s gonna get.
