(Thread) A look into 50+1 and how it could come into the Premier League and what way that could shape the clubs after the proposed 'breakaway' European Super League.

The 50+1 rule refers to a clause in the national football league that states in order to obtain a licence to play in the league in question that the fans need to own the majority of the shares, it also states that the fans must hold the majority of its voting rights.
The rule is designed so that the club members retain overall control, by way of owning 50% of shares, +1 additional share, protecting the club from the external investors.
[Exceptions] In cases when where a person or company has substantially funded a club for continuous period of 20 years, it is possible after that after 20 years one person/company could own a controlling stake in the club.
There is a way for smaller clubs in the pyramid to go around the 50+1, The football clubs could be run as non profits as seen in the Swedish league system this would allow them run more within there means but more importantly gives them the opportunity to switch.
In essence, this means that private investors cannot take over clubs and potentially push through measures that prioritise profit over the fans. this would technically stop the super league coming to existence again but more importantly give fans a voice and a VOTE.
[Opinion] In my opinion i think this would be a good idea for English football, it would put the best interest of the game back in focus also it would give the fans there voice back and let them lead their club in a direction that is in the best interest.
