A thread of how Bumiputeras has special privileges in Malaysia compared to non-bumiputeras. So please don’t use the term 1Malaysia anymore unless every other races in Malaysia are treated equally. So let’s list out and please feel free to list more in case I have missed some.

1. Let’s start off with property purchase. Bumiputeras can have up to 15% discount off their property purchase price. On a special occasing, some housing developments had quota system allocated for the bumiputeras

2. Malay reserve land (Tanah Rizab Melayu), only malays can purchase and sell land parcels in this area. And if they have decided to rent it out , the rental is only allowed to Malays only.

3. If you want to do business with the government or set up a public corporation, you will need bumiputera partners (sleeping partners). I’m not aware of how common this is in other countries.

4. Special bumiputera only universities (MARA colleges and universities) where only bumiputeras can be enrolled with full scholarship given to the students. On the other hand, government universities have allocated quotas for the entry of non-bumiputeras, sadly not result based.

5. Donation receipts are tax deductible. However if you donate Zakat, which is the form donated by Malays, deduction is performed on your total tax paid. For non-bumiputeras, be it to a religious or humanitarian organization, is based on taxable income.

6. Government positions. It is written in the constitution that only Malays can be the prime minister or the state minister. This means that if you are not a Malay, then you will never be able to be the people's leader. Sadly, a lot of talented non-bumiputera leaders out there

And in my opinion, as long as all the races are not given the equal opportunity, Malaysia will be struggling to lead in technology and advancement.
