Hey everyone, as it's my #craftiversary week, I'd like to share the story of Coryographies!
Grab a tea and I'll tell you a tale... (pictured: vintage photo of young Cory at a craft fair)

I moved to the UK
from Canada
in 2008 to do my Masters at UCL.
Then I worked in an office in London and needed a creative outlet. A co-worker made jewellery and sold it on Etsy, which really appealed to me, so I went to YouTube and started watching polymer clay tutorials.

I bought £20 of clay, and started to experiment! I started with sushi jewellery (see pics of my first items!)
, and one day bought some wood so I could make a little bento box.
I then thought I could try a bookshelf with the wood, and my first bookshelf necklace was born.

The rest was history really - the bookshelf necklaces were a hit, and my little shop began growing.
Soon all my designs became book-themed and I guess you could say my brand emerged! (pictured: early vs. later necklace designs)

I returned to uni to do my PhD in 2013, and couldn't have done it without Coryographies. I felt so lucky that I could work to cover my expenses and tuition and be my own boss, and people were so supportive along the way. I finished in 2017 and got to wear a floppy hat.

I now work both with Coryographies and my new academic proofreading business:
http://www.cocoproofreading.com . I always thought that the Etsy venture would be short term - but it looks like it's here to stay!
