India is the world's largest milk and cotton producer with 208 MMT in 2020/21 and 37.5 million bales in 2019/2020, respectively

India's Agricultural Sector employs 42 percent of India's working population and contributes 16.5 percent to the country's GDP

"Indian Agriculture is dominated by small and marginal land holdings. About 86.2 percent of holdings are less than 2 hectares that account for 47.3 percent of operated area."

"Agricultural exports, in nominated US dollar, have increased from USD 6.1 billion in 2001/02 to USD 43.6 billion in 2013/14"

"Cost of food subsidy was INR 4.22 lakh crore (USD 57 billion) in 2020/21 and is provisioned to be INR 2.42 lakh crore (USD 37 billion) in 2021/22"
