Rebuttal thread.

Black people already know that formal education is not a measure of wisdom, leadership or integrity. We also know it is not the only source of knowledge.

We also know that we have been kept out of spaces in the name of not having qualifications. https://twitter.com/benjaminfogel/status/1384756483259342849
The issue is about different lanes of access and how some benefit from the privilege of race and wealth.

The fact that the top two leaders in parliament for the DA are just Matric certificate holders is not testimony to their brilliance but their use of lanes of privilege.
Let’s consider what the DA leader said back in the day about why they did not have lots of black leaders.

She said they were not enough qualified blacks. She was looking for degrees and diplomas. While simultaneously not asking John and Natasha to possess those same documents.
Also training does matter and we need to try to make sure that our elected officials are training for the roles they seek to occupy.

There is a massive problem of mismanagement in political spaces and in the civil service.
We need more leaders with an understanding of the following

a. Operations management
b. Project management
c. Management finance and accounting finance.

Even in parliament, because the executive comes from parliament. Expertise does not fall from the sky it is learnt.
We have too many specialists in politics and too many people who are specialists in just the issues of their own political party.

That affects the efficiency of parliament. That affects the quality of engagement. It’s part of the reason the public has low confidence in parly.
