Did you know that apart from religious importance, there is also a valid scientific basis to the Navratri fasting practice as advised by our ancient scriptures? Please read on..
Navratri time signifies a season changing period (Ritusandhi) & during this period, our digestive system slows down & also this is the time when we get Navann (Nav-Ann).
When Navann is consumed by the weak digestive system, it leads to various metabolic disorders & that is why our scriptures advised us to observe fasting.
Purpose of Navratri fasts is to cleanse the body & mind...I say mind because when you are eating light & satvik during this time, it gives you peace of mind.
When you are on fruit diet (falahaar) & not consuming any rich food, you give a rest to your digestive energy & this energy is instead directed towards revamping your body at the cellular level.
So in case, you missed fasting this Navratri, do that next time. You will feel rejuvenated in both body & mind.
