When I was a little girl in an urban neighborhood and an urban school, they used to have Columbus Police come to our school and do some kind of event once a year. They’d come into our classrooms and talk to us about different types of safety and shit.

They’d eat lunch with us. And the day would end with some band they formed performing a bunch of songs. This was an annual event that happened like from k-2 or something like that. They stopped doing it after a few years of my elementary life.

I’m sure this event existed because the school was predominantly Black and located in a poor, Black neighborhood (they branded it rough, and we know why). It was copaganda at its finest.

But I didn’t know that. I just thought that Columbus Police liked coming to talk to and hang out with us. The copaganda worked. I spent most of my childhood thinking I could trust cops to keep me and my loved ones safe.

I had to learn that CPD and every other cop didn’t give a rat’s ass about me or my loved ones because we are black.

I don’t know what the point of this thread is other than a stream of consciousness. Columbus Police is a band of thugs. They’ve always been this way.

Fuck them and fuck ALL police. Abolish them. That’s the compromise. They are killing children and yelling blue lives matter at the grieving family. That cannot be reformed.
