My son’s schoolwork uses a picture of Popeye in a name (sound) identifier context, but my son has never seen Popeye and doesn’t know his name. Whose problem is this?
The problem with leaning on pop culture references in education is that they age quickly. Have I failed as a parent for not exposing my child to media that contains archaic stereotypes?
Now one of the pictures is a top... I have never successfully “kapped tol” as they say in my culture, and now it’s come to haunt me.
Turns out that at the micro scale it was actually a parachute and not a top. I was projecting my millennial childhood insecurities as possible obstacles to my child’s development.
Thank you for coming to my meltdown.
