For true progress for CPPs, I feel the extent of our suffering needs to be acknowledged. I know people are doubtful when we say it’s “torturous”, but it IS the truth. We see the unspoken doubt in demeanor and facial expressions. We see it in the treatment ultimately provided.
Maybe you think, “they don’t know what torture is like, how can they claim that?” Torture is a concept. An idea to inflict so much pain the person is willing to do anything to get out of. To be put out of their misery. That IS the description of many CPPs lives.
By so grossly underestimating the experience of our pain, they have made presumptions that are not holding true. It IS bad enough people will break the law and take incredible risks, will seek to end it, won’t simply adjust and “move on.” We are watching that unfold now.
