Clarification on the 52.8% vs 57% 2030 target in #EUClimateLaw from @JytteGuteland and @pcanfin - calculations are complex because of strict Council mandate:
- 52.8% is the gross reduction
- 55% is the reduction + 225 Mt of sinks
- 57% is the reduction + 300 Mt of sinks

"This climate law is a gamechanger. There is a before the climate law and an after the climate law," says @pcanfin at a press conference.

. @pcanfin also mentioned the "very transformational" consistency clause, where new legislative proposals from the Commission will have to be consistent with net-zero or justify why they aren't.
