Also India DID NOT - I repeat - India DID NOT export 9300 MT of Medical Oxygen.

It wud be good if our journalists do some basic homework and learn the diff between Medical Oxygen and Industrial Oxygen- sadly too much to ask from those hell bent on creating sensation- check data

Dear @moneycontrolcom - tell your journalist to learn the diff :

Oxygen is exported in liquid capacity & there are two grades: Medical and others (industrial).

During Apr-Feb 2020-21 in your story- Ind exported 9884 MT of Industrial Oxygen & only 12 MT of Medical Oxygen

After PD usage demand during last qtr plummeted from peak Sep20 demand of 2675MT to 1798MT (medical), Oxygen man. capacity was diverted to production of industrial Oxygen- yes @priyankagandhi family wouldn’t have paid for running of Oxygen manufacturing plants facing low demand!

Even after those exports (as detailed below) and translating to 0.4% of total Oxygen production capacity, country has enough oxygen- current stock is estimated to be between 40000 to 50000 MT.

Also on Govt directive, only 15% of total oxygen manufacturing capacity of 7298 MTPD is going for industrial oxygen as against normal level of 70% - this increasing the availability of MOX in the country

GoI has also floated tender for import of 50,000 MT of Oxygen to augment stocks in the country to meet any supply side eventualities - which seems to be a distant reality, given the total production capacity in the country- perhaps that will help cater to need for industrial oxy

Country has enough transportation infra for current manufacturing capacity. Only issue is that most of the demand is coming from western states while excess production is in eastern states and to help deal with this situation- @RailMinIndia is running Oxygen Express trains

Also @narendramodi Govt has asked @MoHFW_INDIA to identify 100 additional hospitals in oxygen deficient areas dor PSA plants in addition to 162 plants already under construction across the country

Additionally @narendramodi Gov has mapped & made arrangements to supply medical oxygen to 12 high burden states until 30th April. I understand that @priyankagandhi n likes of her have compulsion to encash this tragedy but media need 2 act responsibly & avoid spreading propaganda!
