What’s going on with Asian Agent?: A thread
*DISCLAIMER*
Much of the following is unconfirmed and was gathered by Choice while waiting for an official statement. This thread is meant to compile information and fill in those who might have missed things. Take everything at face value.
On April 19th, Danny Lee of Asian Agent, the American management for group A.*.E, shared an article announcing that A.*.E would be selling their own NFTs – online cryptoart files providing buyers with unique “trading card” type selcas. This project has no public release date yet
Each NFT possesses a unique number found within something called a blockchain code. These codes take a massive amount of energy to generate, and the effects of buying and selling NFT’s has a massively negative effect on the environment. Many Choice have loudly and vehemently protested against this decision. Not only are NFT’s bad for the environment but they have a horrible reputation of being unreliable and are closely tied to the trading and farming of cryptocurrency as well as art theft.
The group’s involvement with NFTs was traced back to the founder of Asian Agent, Danny Lee (allegedly). Danny has used his official business account to promote NFTs and has expressed his interest and personal stake in connecting Kpop with cryptocurrency on multiple occasions.
This is part of the reason why Choice are speculating that Asian Agent is behind this deal, not Beat Interactive nor A.*.E themselves. AA's CEO was responsible for arranging all of the group’s collaborations in 2021 (with Aoki, Thutmose, and Grey – all of whom have ties to NFTs)
This personal investment in an industry previously completely unrelated to kpop has put a bad taste in the mouths of most Choice who are now left to question the motives of Danny Lee, Asian Agent, and of their involvement with Beat Interactive...
...as this deal is completely disconnected from the voiced desires of the fandom and the promises that both Asian Agent and Beat Interactive made surrounding their business goals this year.
Please continue to be vocal against this deal and spread any information you see about it. You can email Beat Interactive and Asian Agent about your opinion using one of the templates found here or by writing your own: https://twitter.com/pkjuns/status/1384162789002944527?s=20
If this project goes to market, we are calling on a boycott of all A.*.E related NFTs. We have to use our voice and show them that we will not support this venture. https://twitter.com/warmhunnie/status/1384615445186154497?s=20

Update:
Danny Lee of Asian Agent is not just personally interested in NFTs, he is cited as the founder of an NFT company specifically aimed to bring NFTs into kpop.

*In my own opinion*
Its not illogical to assume that Danny is using A.*.E as guinea pigs for his own profit.
