This is the: For once I really want to believe what the numbers are telling me, edition. Well, at least a decent chunk of the numbers. Cuz some of the numbers are really horrible.
Here come lots of graphs!

Let's start with BC. Because it's 4/20 and that's a BC thing, right?

Anyway, I need to laugh or I might cry. Hospitalizations are nearing 500. ICU could hit 200.
3/ #COVID19bc Graphs Thread April 20, 2021 Edition
The Percentage of people in Hospital who are in ICU is creeping up, now at about 32-33%. This is similar to October, but back then there were less than 100 in hospital!
That's why the strain is so immense on the system rn.
4/ #COVID19bc Graphs Thread April 20, 2021 Edition
Obviously the 7 day average of people in ICU continues to rise very rapidly. Only the 1st wave was worse for rate of increase, but the 3rd wave has been going for much longer now than the 1st.

OK, so now some possible good news. Though I say this with a major caveat that I believe the Monday/Tuesday numbers are often under-represented, so we should wait for Friday.

That said, Active cases are trending down.

This matches with daily case counts which are down on average but there are some serious outliers on both the high and low end.

VC, FS, and VI regional numbers remain above the 2nd wave peak.

B117 and P1 variant cases are also showing a slight flattening, but P1 continues to move up faster.

I would very much like to see someone do an analysis on the likelihood of P1 overtaking B117 in the province.

First shot of vax in BC are moving along reasonably well. We're now at 25% of the population.

We also had our first 2nd shot/full immunizations appear for Astra Zeneca!

Overall though, full immunizations are barely moving.

Looking nationally, there are some glimmers of hope. Daily percentage increases have dropped across the country over the past couple weeks as lockdowns have taken effect.
10/ #COVID19bc Graphs Thread April 20, 2021 Edition
We can see this showing up in the daily case counts. We're definitely at least on a plateau if not coming down slightly.

The most important chart today is the 7 day.
Ontario, BC, SK, and QC all showing at least leveling or decline. The outlier is Alberta which shows no sign of stopping yet. Manitoba also shows a slight increase in its curve.

Most concerning graph of the day has to be anything with Nunavut, as they are dealing with outbreaks in two communities now. Hopefully they can get them under control.
