Going to keep a running thread of $CDLX observations.

Maybe someone else will benefit from my monitoring of Cardlytics, Dosh, and Venmo Offers.

If not, at least I’ll have something to reference in the future to see what may have been warning signs, or clues to success.
$CDLX Observation 1: Quick Venmo Offer

Received a new 5% offer for KFC on Venmo. It was only on there for a day or two, which is much shorter than most other offers.

May be like Laube said, where companies can now test on Dosh platform before rolling out to bank channel.
$CDLX Observation 2: Time Window Offers on Dosh

Finally seeing offers that are only redeemable during a certain time window. Good for companies that want to drive traffic during slow hours. Glad to see this tested. Seen Popeyes and Dunkin both trying this on the Dosh platform.
$CDLX Observation 3:
Frequently Updated Dosh Offer

Unlike most offers that stay the same on Dosh, Popeyes has changed from 2% only, to using 2% but 5% during a time window, then now 5% only. May be matching Laube’s comments about Dosh allowing marketers to test more easily.
$CDLX Observation 4: No New Cardlytics (Chase) Offers in Long Time

Either good sign, if trying to make offer section more addicting via randomizing delivery

Or bad sign, if no new marketers are placing ads, which is central to my thesis. Over an extended time, this would be bad
$CDLX Observation 5: Venmo Offers Location is Off

Again, writing everything down. Seems weird that Venmo Offers location is off for local offers, but not with Dosh.
$CDLX Observation 6: No More Bundled Offers

Back in December 2020, Cardlytics on Chase had an offer where it said 10% off Home Decor, and that single offer worked for 5 stores or so. Very unique, and haven’t seen it since. Maybe difficult to work with different advertisers?
$CDLX Observation 7: Dosh Travel Rewards

Was very surprised to see that there was an offer for a hotel in a small town that we have a wedding to go to. Makes me wonder how they are getting these companies to advertise? Self service? Offer paid by Dosh?
$CDLX Observation 8: No Stacked Offers

It seems if you use a card that is linked to both your bank powered by Cardlytics and also use that card on Dosh, and you have an offer on both for the same company, it will use Dosh, since your statement will say Dosh first.
$CDLX Observation 9: Varying Discounts

One pizza company has slowly reduced their offers from 15% (I used) to 10% ( I used) to now 5% (no plan to use). Will be interested to see if this goes up after 5% expires, since it didn’t incentivize me to go.
$CDLX Observation 10: Gas Stations

Have had two different gas stations provide offers. First time seeing any for gas stations. Both 5%.
$CDLX Observation 11: New Disney Offers

Disney was already on Dosh before the acquisition. Since the acquisition, Disney has had offers for Disney+ and the Disney store. Good sign. Supports thesis that advertisers of Dosh will lead to advertising on $CDLX and vice versa.
$CDLX Observation 12: No More Changing Pictures on Cardlytics

Used to see Big Lot, Little Caesars, fubo TV, and Starbucks have offers where their pictures changed between two or three images.

Haven’t seen that in awhile.

No impact? Too much effort? Waiting for enhanced UI?
$CDLX Observation 13: American Eagle

One of the more recent offers on all platforms was American Eagle. From what I can see online, VaynerMedia ( @garyvee) took over American Eagle as a client in February. Knowing they have access to $CDLX platform, it’s good to see them using it
$CDLX Observation 14: Bundled Offer

May have spoke too soon. Haven’t seen this again on a Cardlytics powered platform like Chase, but noticed this offer on Venmo that works for convenience stores in general.
$CDLX Observation 15: Venmo Offer Shop Button

Unlike on Dosh's app, the shop button on an offer under Venmo's offers section is not working. It does not take you to the site to shop. Its been a little bit since I first noticed, which makes me question why it hasn't been fixed.
$CDLX Observation 16: Increased Offer...Highest QSR Offer Yet?

Previously received 15% for Burger King. Did not use. Now offered 25%. Glad to see them bump up the offer after the the first one didn’t work, rather than just stop trying on Cardlytics.
$CDLX Observation 16 Part 2:

Given both Popeyes and Burger King are on the platform, I would assume the ads are handled at $QSR level. If so, I wonder if the increase in offer was from an increase by $QSR, rather than out of the bank’s or $CDLX ‘s share.
$CDLX Observation 16 Part 3:

Both may be okay. If it’s from $QSR, it would likely be an increase in ad spend (or a willingness to decrease ROAS?). And if it was due to banks or $CDLX funding more of the offer, I would think it would be good if it’s to increase engagement.
$CDLX Observation 17: New Offer on Both Chase and Dosh

Appeared on Dosh about 1 week before showing up on Chase. Doesn’t seem enough time for testing purposes, so maybe they released both around the same time. Regardless, happy to see a new company advertise on both platforms.
