Right now is a great time to learn how to correctly tag triggering content.

First of all, PLEASE tag posts about police brutality and racism and Black death. Black people have been asking you to stop putting traumatic content on their timelines with no warning. (1/?)
Secondly, don't even come in here with your "Triggers are d*mb" bullshit because I absolutely will not engage with you. Everyone's trauma is valid.
Ok, onto the main point.

There are 2 purposes for tagging a post with trigger warnings.

1. To let people see the warning & choose to either keep scrolling or brace themselves & look at the post.
2. To completely hide the topic from people's timelines if they've muted it.
Twitter allows us to mute some words, meaning we won't see tweets containing them. For instance, I've muted "shane dawson" because I'm sick of seeing his vile bs, so I don't want to see any mention of him.
But I've also muted "animal mutilation", which isn't likely to be said flippantly in every conversation about animals being hurt or abused or killed. However, if people correctly tag triggering posts about animal abuse by saying "TW // animal mutilation", I won't see it.
But Twitter isn't all that great. The mute function only works if no other symbols, letters, or numbers are touching the word.

That's why you HAVE to space out warnings. If a comma is touching the word, the mute function won't work.
So in conclusion, this is how you should tag things:

TW // trigger , trigger

Some people even mute "TW", so that needs to be spaced out too.
It's also nice to put more spacing between the warning and the content of the post, like this:

TW // trigger
