So a couple things: I'm still processing the verdict today but one thing I can't shake is how almost a year ago, in the midst of the pandemic, still new to #alaska and the city, I went out, curious about how my new community was processing George Floyd's murder.
Today, I find myself still curious, looking for answers as I'm sure many of you are. If you care to share your thoughts/reaction/hopes with me again please give me a call and leave a message 907 550 8487. Let's process this together.
Secondly - there's an Anchorage school board meeting tonight. Members are supposed to be voting on two anti-racism and equity policies that were, in many ways, born of the protests against George Floyd's murder. More than 40 people are signed up to publicly testify.
Others, like Representative Sara Rasmussen, have sent in written testimony.
It's going to be a long night, after a long day, - but I encourage you to tune in to the conversation at 6pm. Will add more to this thread as the night goes on.
