Progressives could’ve asked for anything within Pelosi’s purview: hearings on the GND, committee appointments, completely eliminating paygo, committee hearings in general instead of the cloistered bill drafting Pelosi has been puppeteering for a year.

Instead, many on the left affirmatively spread the lie that threatening to withhold the vote would risk Kevin McCarthy as speaker. Jayapal made this argument weeks after FTV on Deconstructed Podcast.

We could’ve been having a conversation on the left re how to maximize the ask. Instead, petty gatekeepers indulged in personal attacks.
