Yes. As it should be. https://twitter.com/nbcnews/status/1383752433797451779
Circling back around, it strikes me as absurd that policing shouldn’t ALWAYS be on trial. Especially as it began as a system to guard the palace of white supremacy. The police have an immense power over citizens; why wouldn’t we want that power constantly evaluated and measured?
Of course policing should be on trial — the abuses it levies against Black and brown America are plain to see every day. Power must always be checked. Even when it’s not engaging in those abuses it must be checked, and tenfold when it is.
(As a sidenote, it’s always WTF to see conservatives against Big Government and say We Need Guns to Revolt Against Gubmit Abuse, but then they’re also like, “Sure, give police tanks and shit, that’s fine.” Of course, they align ideologically with that white supremacy, so.)
(They believe cops having that power is fine because cops won’t point it at them, only at Other People wink wink. And don’t forget how many cops were at the insurrection at the Capitol. But I’m outside the point, which is yes, the system of police on trial, always, obviously.)
