The @ChtyCommission could not really have done anything other than grant charitable status to LGB Alliance, b/c their critics had no case. But there were still worrying signs of ideological capture in the statement. The use of the phrase "gender they were assigned at birth" 1/3
the subjective comments about tweets that "may be regarded as inflammatory and offensive" & the vague threat (below) that their status could be removed were quite unfair. It's hard to know whether this was to placate critics or a snipe b/c they didn't want to register LGBA. 2/3
Overall it's great news. But the fact that the Charity Commission looked at the evidence and found in LGBA's favour, whilst unwittingly using the language of their ideological opponents, shows how deep the rot is. Somehow the ruling reads as begrudging.
