Just a reminder that cultural change always precedes political change. As we all know (I hope), politicians don't lead our most impactful social changes: they follow them. They follow the lead of organizers, artists, community members, educators, etc. That's our power.
It's the reason why culture has the power to change people's minds, hearts, behaviors, actions faster/more efficiently than laws have ever changed, policies have ever passed, etc. Culture isn't just this ornamental thing we do: culture is how we make meaning of everything.
There is no change without cultural change because some people are in politics some of the time: but all of us are in culture all of the time.
The work of fellow artists/cultural workers like @favianna @zentronix @CultureStrike @adriennemaree helped illuminate this for me and now I swear by it. Because in cultural change are our stories. Our narratives. It's how we connect and build power. It's how we win.
