i& #39;ve been keeping up with psycholonials since it first released and just finished its final volume

there are a few thoughts occupying my brain, almost like it& #39;s land to be conquered, so i& #39;m going to dispel them before they set up camp
firstly i just want to say that it should be clear to anybody who can read that this story is very personal and allegorical compared to hussie& #39;s other works.

yes it& #39;s rampant political commentary in the pandemic age but the core of it all: it& #39;s about the price of personality.
the whole thesis statement is about self-destruction. the manifestations of ideas out of control, and that by the time you feel you have a grip- you lose it just as easily.

after a point you aren& #39;t in control, and when you are its taken from you by forces you don& #39;t comprehend.
i feel like most of the critique levied at the game really isn& #39;t fair or fundamentally misunderstands what it is.

it& #39;s not trying to actually be this grand scale leftist political epic, or foster a radical idealism for eugenics. it& #39;s trying to tell a story about letting go.
everything in this game is metaphor, metaphor, metaphor.

the reason why it doesn& #39;t focus heavily on the inner workings of zhen& #39;s plots is because they don& #39;t matter. it& #39;s about the effects, not the cause. it values emotion over rationale.
a lot of people cry foul about the art style saying that hussie& #39;s art has "degraded" since act 6, but i really don& #39;t think this is the case.

yes it& #39;s simpler, sharpened to hell and over-pixelated. but all of the art, color, background and especially animation work is dynamic.
none of this is to say i don& #39;t have issues with it.

the timeskips are a bit of a missed opportunity, some of the millennial language is overblown, the real world event implementation isn& #39;t thought out the best, and i wish other characters besides zhen got heavier development
without getting deep into spoilers, while i do think that certain implications of the ending in context of the story might be able to be taken in less than stellar light and that it may be a little too schmaltzy

i personally was pleased with the message it was trying to send.
psycholonials, for better and for worse, is unable to be removed from the... well, psychosis of andrew hussie.

it& #39;s the visual novel equivalent of a vent post 12 years in the making and cycles through anger, frustration, confusion and at times pathos like it& #39;s cheap clown candy.
your mileage may vary, but i& #39;m happy we got an intimate, non-homestuck work from hussie that has a chance to speak its mind. i would recommend it if you create media and hate creating media, or suffer online.

now if you& #39;ll excuse me, i have a jubelitesona to make.
