I’m pregnant and received two doses of the Moderna vaccine. I had chicken pox as a child and then shingles in my 20s. The worst thing that happened to me was I had body aches and fatigue for two days. My baby has been checked out since and she’s also fine. It’s fine!

It really sucks seeing so many people afraid of the COVID vaccines because they don’t have the facts, or don’t want them. Number one, the vaccine didn’t arrive from nowhere. There was already research being done on a close cousin of COVID, another coronavirus called SARS.

SARS was too deadly to persist. Most viruses become less deadly over time because it allows them to be passed along better. If the host is too sick to go out and pass the virus around, the virus is unsuccessful.

Because SARS burned itself out too quickly for research to be valuable anymore, scientists didn’t really have funding to continue progress on a SARS vaccine. But the groundwork for coronavirus vaccines was already extant, allowing a small head start on efforts against COVID.

Moreover, there was already decades of research on application of mRNA, particularly by Dr. Katalin Kariko, who had been using it to teach cells to create proteins at will since I believe the 1980s or 90s. She had been trying to get grants for her work for many years.

I’m saying all this to say, it’s not really “experimental.” It didn’t just appear and the government said, “Yes let’s use this brand new tech to k*ll everyone and track them.” Like that’s actually an unhinged and uninformed thing to think. But confirmation bias is a thing.

I don’t all the way blame people for distrusting the government. Especially not non-whites. But come on. This is proven medicine.

I’d also like to add, re: blood clots, the combination birth control pill is way more dangerous, especially if you smoke.
