In-house lawyers can build great visibility through their training.

This is such an underrated thing that can add so much value and demonstrate the importance of the legal team.. if done right.

Here are my two cents for in-house lawyers to build a powerful training. Expect a thread.

Ready? Let’s go 👇🏼
1/ First thing first - an icebreaker.

It sucks to go to training especially remotely.

People actually have a job to do, training is often the least of their concerns.

Start your training with an icebreaker, set a collegiate tone.
2/ identify who your audience is, especially if you’re delivering a company wide training.

Not all team members is going to show up.

By identifying the pool of people physically there, you can develop a more bespoke approach (and relevant examples) to your training.
3/ the content of the training.

Identify: Who is the training for, what are the objectives etc.

How can you take your audience from A to B.

In other words what’s their transformational journey?

Will they learn a skill, a process, gain awareness?
4/ the format of the training.

«  I love times new Roman and font 12 types of PowerPoint slides » said no one ever.

Little text and big impact.

Try to streamline your content, replace words by icons and visuals.
5/ engaging with the audience when training.

Keeping your audience engaged throughout the training is hard.. a quick tip is to regularly engage with them

Through polls, quiz, games etc. It keeps them entertained and focused.
6/ last but not least, keep your training simple, short and to the point.

Do regular breaks if you run a session over an hour etc.

I hope it helps #lawtwitter !

I am quite proud of running legal training that people actually enjoy and come back to!
