Companies like Etsy, Shopify, Twitter, and yes, Facebook are helping democratize economic opportunities. I think it's the opposite of the centralization-of-power narrative that focuses on the pitfalls without acknowledging the benefits. Zuckerberg makes a great point here:
The centralization narrative is the loudest because it's easy to quantify the value these firms have created for their owners. But it's not easy to quantify the value that these platforms have created for their users because that value is disaggregated and distributed to many
But as Bill Gates said, "a platform is when the economic value of everybody that uses it exceeds the value of the company that creates it". There is no doubt this applies to FB (& TWTR). Along with so many others on this platform, I am a beneficiary of this value creation
