I love that Austin Power's immediate reaction to learning the Cold War was over was happiness that capitalism lost

And when told the capitalists won proceeds to give the most sarcastic thumbs-up ever
Yes I'm doing a re-watch, first time in about 15 years
Actually curious to see how well it has aged

Assuming better than most Bond films
Keeping this one for later, I have a feeling I shall find appropriate moments that something ends up on main that probably shouldn't
Just saying, Austin Powers (1997) pointed out that the Salvation Army is an evil organisation who should at no point be trusted

This movie got a bunch of stuff scarily on target
Gods, I'm reminded how much this movie series like dragging jokes out waaaaaaay too long to be funny and it starts getting painful

A technique that has remained far too common in a lot of comedy up to today
Pictured: Every single executive team in a large company congratulating themselves for winning a diversity award
Oh right, this movie actually did the consent discussion back in the 90s and has somehow managed to do better than modern government media teams
I wonder just how many eggs these fembots managed to crack 😳
The cut to Beavis & Butthead makes me feel so old

Remember when MTV was mostly music videos, and occasionally cartoons that heavily featured music videos?

Damn, I found so many of my still favourite bands from Beavis & Butthead back in the 90s...
Oh hey, it's that meme about that boat that got stuck and cost capitalism like $65billion in lost trade

It's funny because money isn't real
Insert joke about always picking the right toy for your needs here

But seriously folks, don't use doomsday devices as insertables, that never ends well
All in all, this movie didn't age too badly, compared to a LOT of the stuff from the 90s

Didn't hold up too bad, and is still more fun than most Bond films. Strangely less problematic too despite a few pretty cringy scenes
Part of me wants to go through the sequels, but from what I remember the second film was pretty ick a lot of the times, and I can't remember the third at all so might be better just go revisit some old monster movies
