8 ways to respect n normalize pronouns !!!!!

my pronouns are sacred to my identity as i dont conform to my assigned gender sometimes :> the feeling that washes over my heart when people use my preferred pronouns are beyond description !!!!

i know that it can b difficult adjusting to using new pronouns for someone !! even i have trouble with it sometimes .. that’s why theres a movement to normalize the importance for practicing , using n respecting pronouns :>

1. when introducing yourself to someone new , offer your pronouns alongside your name :>
“ haii my name is soba , and my pronouns are she / they !! “
don’t press them for theirs if they don’t share

2. put your pronouns in bio, end of emails , and in other similar places !!!

3. use they / them ( instead of “ he or she “ ) for strangers until you know their pronouns .
“ i met someone in class and they have the coolest earrings !!! “

4. once you know someone’s pronouns , don’t settle with using they / them for convenience !!!! being purposeful with someone’s pronouns shows you believe in and respect their existence :>

5. when referring to a trans person in the past , do NOT use their old pronouns or name .

6. messed up ? thats okay !! correct yourself and move on . no need for apologies . making a big deal out of your mistake makes the other person feel like they need to reassure you !!

7. practice their pronouns when you’re not around them !! use simple sentences that incorporate all tenses of their pronouns :>>

8. ask them if there are times when it iz not safe to use their preferred pronouns !!!! you could accidentally end up outing them to others before they’re ready !!!
