Prithvi Shaw - The Journey
A thread
Born in Virar , Maharashtra , Prithvi's native place is in Gaya, Bihar . Prithvi's mother passed away when he was only 4 years old. Pankaj dedicated his entire life from then onwards towards his son's cricketing future.
Prithvi Shaw traveled the over 70 km long journey every day on his father's shoulders with his cricket kit. While his little boy practiced under the scorching sun, his Dad sacrificed everything and worked immensely hard to support Prithvi for years.
Early Career :
Prithvi was Youngest Player in U14 Vinoo Mankad Tournament 2007
Prithvi made a name for himself in November 2013 when he set the highest score by any batsman in any organized form of cricket since 1901 by scoring 546 off 330 balls in a Harris Shield elite division match until the record was surpassed by Pranav Dhanawade in 2016.
Prithvi garnered a lot of praises from accomplished cricketers in the country. Local MLA helped him out by providing them a place to live in Bandra, Mumbai so that he could eliminate the added pressure of traveling every day.
Shaw was invited to Manchester, England in 2012 where he scored 1446 runs and took 68 wickets with the off-break style of bowling in 2 months for Cheadle Hulme School.
In 2013, Prithvi Shaw played for Cryptics vs. Middleton Stoney Cricket Club in Oxfordshire. He opened the batting and scored 68 in under 10 overs before a change of pace in English conditions led to his dismissal, caught off the bowling of Professor Paul Wordsworth.
In this time, Shaw's opening partner had reached just 7 runs. He also bowled, taking 3 wickets for 1 run in 5 overs and completed a runout
He made his first-class debut for Mumbai in the semi-finals of the 2016–17 Ranji Trophy where scored a century in the second innings and was awarded the Man of the Match trophy.
He also scored a century in his debut match of the Duleep Trophy.
INDIA UNDER 19 :
Shaw was selected in the India U-19 team and played some ODIs in early 2017.He was a key player of the Indian U-19 team that won the youth Asia Cup in Sri Lanka.
In December 2017, he was named skipper of India's team for the 2018 U-19 Cricket World Cup. Shaw did a fantastic job, both as the skipper and a batsman. He opened the innings and scored 261 runs in the tournament including 2 fifties.
INTERNATIONAL CAREER :
Prithvi Shaw was selected for last two test matches for England Tour in 2018 but he did not play .
Shaw made his Test debut against West Indies on 4 October 2018.
In that match, he scored his maiden century in Tests and became the youngest batsman to make a Test century on debut for India (18 years and 319 days)
Prithvi Shaw was selected for Austrlian tour 2018 but he was ruled out after suffering a left ankle injury while attempting a catch at the boundary ropes in the tour game against CA XI at The Sydney Cricket Ground
In January 2020, Shaw was named in India's One Day International (ODI) squad for their series against New Zealand. He made his ODI debut for India, against New Zealand, on 5 February 2020.
He was also Selected For Test Series In New Zealand and Scored one half-century in 4 innings He Played In That series.
After having 2 decent IPL season , 2020 IPL season brought stir in his career , after having decent start to his IPL Campaign with fifty against CSK and a Cameo against RCB ,
Shaw's technical faults against inswinging deliveries got exposed as he badly failed ,failing to get off the mark at times , thus dropped

He was selected in Test team for Australia tour but his bad form continued as he scored 0,4 and thus was dropped
"I told myself all this talent is fine but it's of no use if I don't work hard."
His failure obviously brought a lot of social media trolling for him , with people absolutely considering him a fraud
""It was the saddest day of my life (when he was dropped). I went to my room and broke down. I felt like something wrong was happening. I needed answers quickly."
"I was in complete tension when I was dropped after the first Test.I got a feeling like I was worthless though I was happy that the team was doing well. I said to myself,I need to pull up my socks"
There is a saying, 'hard work beats talent'. I told myself all this talent is fine but it's of no use if I don't work hard.
The problem, he realised when he worked with India coach Ravi Shastri and batting coach Vikram Rathour

Prithvi made a fantastic comeback as he lead Mumbai to Vijay Hazare Trophy with being fantastic with bat , scoring 4 tons , 827 runs at an average of 165 , SR-138
Prithvi Shaw has had a good start to IPL 2021 , hopefully he will have a great breakthrough season and make a comeback to the team
